This week we are looking at an interesting passage involving the flashback account to the death of John the Baptist. "King" Herod has heard of Jesus and his miraculous powers and it gets him worried that Jesus might be John risen from the dead. As you spend some time reading this passage, consider some of these thoughts and questions.
Why did Herod like to hear John's preaching despite his complete lack of desire to repent from his sin?
What does this picture of John's suffering and death, and the continuation of Jesus' ministry teach us about sharing the Gospel message?
This story is bracketed between Jesus sending his disciples out and his disciples coming back to report what had happened. How does John's story connect with that of the disciples being sent out to share a message of repentance? What does this teach us as well?
